Repowering
Continued Operations & Repowering
Early wind turbines had a maximum output of 300 kW. Today, 30 years later, they have up to 10 MW per wind turbine.
Modern wind turbines utilize the wind supply more efficiently, are quieter and due to an improved constant power generation, can be integrated easier into the grid.
Our Düngstrup wind farm (Oldenburg district) is a good example of “classic repowering”: By replacing eight old wind turbines with four state-of-the-art new ones, we were not only able to triple output, but also able to increase yields by an eightfold, per wind turbine. The areas which were already available for wind energy use, will continue to be used very efficiently over the next 20-30 years.
